NAL-OAE1^© is a Microsoft^® Windows™-basedsoftware package designed for ease of analysing TEOAE records obtained with ILOequipment manufactured by Otodynamics Ltd.

Over the last decade, National Acoustic Laboratories (NAL) has developed alarge database of over 15,000 TEOAE records, mainly using ILO equipment fromOtodynamics Ltd., Hatfield, Herts, England. From this database a set ofage/sex-normative statistics has been derived upon which NAL-OAE1 is based. Byknowing mean emission levels for the Australian population as a function of agewe have shown that it is possible to assess a person's risk of hearing loss dueto outer hair cell damage.

Features

The software provides, for every ILO TEOAE record imported onto the NAL-OAE1desktop:

Audiograms from the National Acoustic Laboratories database have been used toobtain the probability of hearing loss (%) for seven CES bands. The chart aboveshows significant increase in the probability of hearing loss in the lower CESbands, Indicating higher risk.
